What is DYD?


 


DYD is a domestic help on-line searchable database that lets domestic service providers find work by advertising their services or searching for people looking for help


 


Is DYD an Employment Agency?


No.  DYD is merely an advertising board for you to advertise your services on.


 


What are the Benefits of Becoming a Member? 


In a nutshell:

Can Anyone Join? 


Absolutely!  Whether you are just starting out or whether you have been providing domestic services for years.  It doesn’t matter if you want to work one hour a week or full-time, there’s bound to be someone out there looking for the service you have to offer.


 


What type of domestic services do you cover? 


We cover all domestic services including:


 


·          Cleaning


·          Ironing/Laundry


·          Gardening – landscape, general maintenance, lawn cutting


·          Handyman – Painting, maintenance,


·          Window Cleaner


·          Dog Walker/Pet Sitter


·          Catering -daily dinners/dinner parties/parties/ children’s parties


·          Childcare – nanny/child minder/babysitter/au pair


·          Other – special care, eldercare, hairdresser, house sitter party organiser, cake maker, personal shopper, chauffeur, house removals, personal assistant, private tuition, computer specialist and many more


 


What if my service is not on the list? 


Don’t worry. You can email us at info@ditchyourdomestics.com and we will add your service to the list.



 


What if I want to offer more than one service?


That is absolutely fine.  Just tick all the services that apply to you when applying for your membership.  Don’t forget you can update your profile at any time if you decide in the future that you want to change the services that you offer.


 


How will people contact me?



That’s up to you.  When you set up your profile you have the option of deciding whether people contact you by phone, email or both.  If you select that you want to be contacted only by email your email address will be kept private and emails will be sent directly to your email address and can also be viewed within the “my emails section” of Your Account.  If you do not want to make your telephone number public, do not click the option to be contacted by telephone. 


 


What if I don’t have any references?


Don’t worry if you don’t have any references, we all have to start somewhere.  As soon as you start working people will be able to add feedback to your profile and you can also add references at any time in the future by going to the "Add References" section of your Account. 


 


How does Feedback Work?



Please encourage everyone you work for to leave feedback. It will help in the future when other people are looking at your profile.



People can add Feedback by following the link on your profile page.  They can then give you a score out of 5.  The scores will be averaged out and will be shown by a star rating within your profile.  They can also leave comments. 


 


How do I know if my profile is being viewed?



When you login to your account your Account Page will display how many times your profile has been viewed since you last logged in.


It will also tell you whether you have been added to any hot lists


 


What is a hot list?



When people are searching for help/ or when you are searching for work you can add any profiles that you are interested in into your Hot list to be viewed easily later on.  You can view your hot list by looking at your Account Page and then clicking on View My Hot list 


 


How much does it cost?



Membership is currently free. We will notify you before we intend to start charging for membership.  We have found that in many cases that are less than you would pay your local paper for a 15 word advert for just one week. 


 


Is payment secure?


We collect payments through Protx.  Protx has achieved the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and adheres to the most stringent levels of fraud screening, ensuring that your details remain secure throughout the transaction process.


 


How do I renew my membership? 


You will be emailed near the time that your membership is due to expire and you can follow the links to renew your membership. Alternatively, you can click on “renew membership” on your Account Page at any time.


What if I want to cancel?



You can cancel your membership at any time by sending an email to info@ditchyourdomestics.com and your account will be immediately cancelled and your profile immediately removed from the website.  Please note however that we are unable to refund any membership fees paid for part-months or future months. 


 


How can I update my profile?



You can update your profile at any page by going to your Account Page and clicking on “edit my profile".  We would encourage you to update your profile as much as you can as the more information that you can provide abut yourself and the services you offer and jobs you have undertaken the more likely you are to receive enquiries for work.  


 


What do I do if I am contacted for a job?


Firstly, congratulations!  DYD must be working for you.  We have created a tips section which contains hints and tips to prepare you for interviews.


 


How do I get paid?


As you are self-employed it is for you to negotiate the terms of your payment with the person you are providing services to.


 


Lastly



Please be sure to tell everyone you know about DYD.  The more people that know about it the more enquiries you are likely to receive about work.  We have also attached a poster that you can print off and post anywhere you think people might see it, at your work, in your car, at your local café …you get the idea.
