DYD is a domestic help on-line searchable database that lets you find reputable local help.

Is DYD an Employment Agency?

No.  DYD is merely an advertising board for service providers to advertise their services on.  Service providers are self employed and are not vetted by us.  We have provided you with information in our Tips/Advice section to help you to chose the correct person.

What is a Hotlist?

If you are a member and you are searching for help, you can add a service providers profile to your hotlist so that you can view it easily later.  You can view your Hotlist by looking on your Account page and then clicking on View my Hotlist 

How do I make contact with a service provider?

When you view a profile you will be given either the option to email or call the helper, or both.  Just click on the relevant button.

What if I cant find what I am looking for? 

Why don’t you consider becoming a member?  You can create a profile by clicking on the “Join us – Looking for Help” button.  You can then specify your exact requirements and indicate how much you are willing to pay.

How can I update my profile? 

You can update your profile at any page by going to your Account Page and clicking on “edit my profile.  We would encourage you to update your profile as much as you can as the more information that you can provide abut yourself and the services you offer and jobs you have undertaken the more likely you are to receive enquiries for work.  

How do I leave Feedback? 

If you use the services of a service provider you can leave feedback by following the link on the profile page of the service provider. You can then give then a score out of 5.  Scores will be averaged out and will be shown by a star rating next to their profile.  You can also leave any comments that you may wish.

Please ensure that if you do employ the services of any service provider that you do leave honest and fair feedback so that others can gain from your experiences.

All service providers are self-employed and we do not accept any liability for loss, damage, acts or omission caused by the service provider.  See out terms and conditions for full details.

How do I become a Member?

If you wish to become a member yourself and advertise for help, membership costs just £10 a month!  We have found that in many cases that is less than you would pay your local paper for a 15 word advert for just one week.   

 Is payment secure?

We collect payments through Protx.  Protx has achieved the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard and adheres to the most stringent levels of fraud screening, ensuring that your details remain secure throughout the transaction process. 

How do I renew my membership? 

You will be emailed near the time that your membership is due to expire and you can follow the links to renew your membership. Alternatively, you can click on “renew membership” on your Account Page at any time.

What if I want to cancel?

You can cancel your membership at any time be sending an email to info@dodgeyourdomestics.com and  your account will be immediately cancelled and your profile immediately removed from the website.  Please note however that we are unable to refund any membership fees paid for part-months or future months.  

 Is there anything else I should know about hiring a service provider?

The service providers are self-employed.  However, if you pay the provider more than the PAYE threshold of £100 a week you will be classed as the provider’s employer and must register with the Inland Revenue 

This will also have other implications such as you will be required to set up and operate PAYE, deduct national insurance and income tax contributions, pay holiday and sick pay, have employers liability insurance and a contract.  If you require any further information see www.hmrc.gov.uk or ask for clarification from the status officer at your tax office.

Finally, you may wish to consider checking the immigration status of your serviceprovider. Employing an illegal immigrant is a criminal offence. Basic document checks can confirm a persons right to work.  For more information see www.workingintheuk.gov.uk.
